    • shows a 1931 photo from Chappel exploration, Lot #9 in that photo was circled

      • Doug looks for disturbed ground, and found shaft #2?

        • 1805 Onslow Co digging shaft #2 that was 14 ft SE of Money Pit, at 110 ft they had no water, went horizontal to access money pit shaft but within 2 ft...flooding hit (IMAGINE BEING IN THIS SHAFT WHEN FLOODING??)

        • Onslow Co. went bankrupt and no recording of Money Pit ever known after that

        • If you find Shaft #2, Guptill can triangulate and locate money pit "X marks the spot"

        • throw sonic drilling at it and find it ( they must have rented/leased this equipment for the year, its all over the island)

      • they set up sonic drilling with Guptill's spot

  • Rick, Doug, Peter, Billy go 52 miles to Dartmouth to the Helen Creighton Heritage Museum

    • Rick, while at Dan Blakenship's funeral, has someone walk up to him and tell him 30-40 years ago, while at this museum, a stone in the yard was pointed out from the curator, told this guy it was the carved stone from Oak Island

      • THIS STONE WAS NEVER PHOTOGRAPHED & NEVER COPIED, SO HOW CAN THEY TRANSLATE IT!!

      • last known location in the Halifax bookstore, remember Doug thought he located it last year and slammed this big old stone on the war room table, making Rick jump out of his seat

  • Jack and Gary go to Lot #6!

    • area has been overlooked noted Gary, starts at beach in his zig zag pattern, "Beach Bank Open for Business"

      • found modern nail

      • 2 old pins, possible 1700's ship wreck?

      • then finds "A Screamer"- big ole pin making them think they found another wharf or slipway? so much iron in this area, repairing ships, unloading treasure?

  • Back in Dartmouth, the gentleman who spoke to Rick at Dan's funeral Kevin Rideout and museum curator Terry Eyland

    • Kevin tells the story from 40 years ago, saw a stone in back yard pointed out to him from curator, but no record of the stone being brought here but possible connection:

      • the museum was built in 1867, but was simply a house then, built by a judge in Dartmouth

        • "Evergreen House" sold to Dr. Helen Creighton, who was related to an Oak Island searcher Augustus Oliver Dartmouth, in 1919--the same year the bookstore in Halifax went out of business. Augustus was a partner in the bookstore---HMMMMM???

        • Next we see Rick on hands and knees in huge rhododendron...with Peter right next to him

        • wants to dig, will seek permit to dig

  • Back to bump out..you can see the frame set up, as this was being built, a structure is located, outside of Dan's cauffer dam he built, this structure is visible without any digging, is normally under 10ft of water at high tide

  • Core samples being reviewed at Shaft #2- lots of wood found at 33ft. and Charles says SHAFT NO QUESTION

    • Rick notes this is an easy call, keep drilling and then try to find the other 3 walls to orient themselves to Money Pit

    • Laird is brought in to review, Gary starts his searching, Laird has no idea what this could be! but says to profile the side of the wood (DUH?)

      • Tar paper found? 1800's seekers evidence?

      • piles of stacked stones located, lots of water starts entering, did they find finger drain system?

  • ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER STRUCTURE- Gary comment

Searching the Stone

Zant:

  • Dartmouth Creighton Museum and mystery of 90ft slab

  • House was built in 1867

  • Alexander James and his wife Harriet moved ("to the country") there after losing 8 of their 11 children to disease

  • Evergreen use was also the home to nationally acclaimed Nova Scotian folklorist, Dr. Helen Creighton. In 1928

  • In 1978, the City of Dartmouth purchased Evergreen from Helen Creighton with the support of the Nova Scotia Museum. The house is currently interpreted in a Victorian style and is an impressive example of a mid-Victorian gentleman’s residence, is furnished with period antiques from the Museum’s collection and commands a fine view of Halifax Harbour.

  • Creighton's book store

  • 1893 removed from chimney and brought to halifax to be deciphered and attract investors

  • book binders mallet wore away the inscription

  • 1909 Capt Bowdoin visited book store to see stone

  • 1920 stone moved to Truro Nova Scotia

  • 1929 stone goes back to halifax to book binding store

  • 1933 stone went missing

Has this been the secret home of the stone all along?

Billy:

  • Halifax bookstore info? where 90ft stone was being displayed

  • codes on 90ft stone....?

Shaft 2

Jer:

  • Shaft 2

    • Onslow Company

    • 1805

    • Originally dug 14 feet east of the Money Pit.

    • The main goal - bypass the water booby trap

    • Dug down 110 feet.

    • Started to dig horizontally towards money pit

    • apparently got to within 2 feet of their target before the flood waters opened up, swallowing their second tunnel and thus marking the last official dig under taken by the original 3

      • Daniel McInnis, John Smith and Anthony Vaughn Jr

        • again, there are alternate accounts (see episode 5) but some say Samuel Ball might have been there and or been there with or instead of John Smith

    • This marked the end of operations for the Onslow Company.

    • According to the Barkhouse Blog

      • " The Onslow Company, it is said, was comprised of Simeon Lynds of Truro, Colonel Robert Archibald, Sheriff Thomas Harris of Pictou, Captain David Archibald and the three discoverers. No one has ever found, or brought forth publicly, any stock certificates, bills of sale, company ledgers, or letters to support that this company existed. "

Laird Niven

"I don't know why this is here. I don't know what it could be" (Niven Season 7 Episode 7).
