Recap

Season 7, Episode 15

"Surely Templar"

Tonight we will be in the swamp, in Carmen Legge’s Blacksmith Shop, and…in the Cherry Capital of the WORLD…. TRAVERSE CITY MICHIGAN……..LET’S GO

    • 1) SWAMP & Carmen Legge Blacksmith Shop

    • 2) TRAVERSE CITY MICHIGAN

    • 3) WAR ROOM

    • 4) Lot #21

    • 5) UPLANDS!

  • SWAMP:

    • First things first, and let’s start in the swamp, Jack notes they are in the Western Edge of swamp, area not thought to have been dug before he notes? Also this is where the anomaly is …. looking for some ship still in this area? digging away is Mr. Billy G and Dave Blankenship up in the equipment again,

    • recall though the previous episode where this burned ship discussion took place when Rick, Gary and Alex brought the strap to him and he noted that a hot high sustained fire had to have taken place that this strap artifact being looked at was involved in, suggestions being a ship burned and sunk

    • they show a great graphic noting the point of the anomaly part closest to the Eye of the Swamp is 15 ft underground, and the other end of the anomaly more towards the access road or ocean 55 ft deep…they find they find a wood beam, another survey stake, while digging & Gary starts hunting with Big Bertha and hits on a pointed piece of metal, like a pin, with a wood piece inserted in it

o They take the spike looking piece to FOTP Mr. Carmen Legge for identification

  • Hollow point, handle , 1710 to 1790 ish dated, but Carmen also then notes this could be a sailing ship piece known as a pike pole point AKA “Boat Hook” used to move ships around in close spaces like a pier or slip…pointing towards a ship in the swamp??

* TRAVERSE CITY:

  • Marty and Craig are speaking with Vanessa Lucido CEO at ROC Equipment, in order to discuss the Money Pit hammer claw plan coming up, talked about shaft #2 with Vanessa, where they found the hand cut wood dated to 1600s, well before the money pit discovery

  • Largest can or two they could put down will happen this time, moving from 5 ft to 8 ft this year, and 220 feet of pipe

      • 2.5x the material they can dig through with larger can

      • BIG HAMMER GRAB COMING..THE BIG CLAW

  • WAR ROOM:

    • James McQuiston joins the War Room again, recall him as a theorist on Templars & Knights Baronets (Scottish in Canada, NOVA SCOTIA = NEW SCOTLAND), Oak Island connections, and this time, the Freemason connection to Oak Island, 1625 Sir William Alexander, Royal advisor to King James I of England, and according to McQuiston, the Knights Baronet had 2 main objectives

      • Knights Baronet Goal #1: Establish Templar descendant refuge in Nova Scotia

      • Goal #2: to add valuables to vast Templar treasure vault hidden on Oak Island years before this

      • But there may be a connection to Masons with Sir William Alexander, possibly a secret member of the Masons

      • Mr Clotworthy also notes that Daniel McGinnis, M.R. Chappel, and FDR were Masons, along with the numerous Mason symbols discovered on the Island, many connections to Masonry

      • He goes into the connections with Alexander, his mother’s maiden name was McClain, and when Alexander dies, a McClain takes over leading the Masons

  • Lot #21, The McGinnis foundation lot

    • Marty, Charles, Steve Guptill…and Indiana Jones…errr…ahhhhh…Friend of the Podcast Mr. Laird Niven are in lot #21 the Daniel McGinnis homestead location

    • Did they find the treasure Mr. Guptill asks? In 2015, on the episode flashback they show the War Room meeting with Jean , Joan, & Joyce McGinnis and the family members showed the Oak Team the gold cross that was passed through the McGinnis family..so…how did Daniel get that cross?

  • UPLANDS!:

    • Trying to locate the flood tunnels between Smiths Cove and The Money Pit, shut that water down!

    • Large piece of wood, a timber unearthed, Jack jumps right in there! Removes the wood piece and it looks like a legit tunnel under there, searcher vs depositor not known obviously…but a wooden pandora’s box as Gary says

    • Jack makes the discovery of what looks like the large coconut fiber chunk in this area as well keep in mind that the closest coconut tree is 1500 miles away from Oak Island and also noted in Money Pit in 1804 and Truro in 1850 with coconut fibers being found, was used as a filter system for the box drains after being used as packing material on a vessel? Going to test the material to confirm this is coconut fiber, which Dr. Spooner later confirms it is, and he has never seen something like that on Oak Island, but could be original work due to the use of coconut fiber

    • After another bucket scoop, water begins to flood in…did they hit the main flood tunnel? Rick is right in there and notice he drops the shovel in there and didn’t hit the bottom, Jack talking about shaft #5… in 1850 Truro Company sank this with the same idea, but at 35 ft a boulder blocked their progress, and when removed, the shaft of course filled with…WATER

NEXT EPISODE: “WATER LOGGED” (there is some gigantic equipment en route)

QUESTION - What symbol or two would you put on the Oak Island Coat of Arms - Reddit post

The Swamp

What Lies Below

It is at this location in the dried swamp, the team unearths a strange metal point.

Boat Hook

Could this be another find that points to a buried or burned ship hidden beneath the swamp's murky depths?

Traditional Use

A boat hook is used to push and guide large sailing vessels in and out of tight areas such as a pier or slipway.

Boat Hooks, a graphic history

Fishing and Sailing are embedded within many a culture. This is evidenced by a few examples of heraldry found below.

Schwabisch Hall

located in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany

Villingendorf

a town in Rottweil, Germany

The Money Pit

The $ Pit

This is the entire area classified as the Money Pit. Perhaps the team is narrowing down the precise location.

The Original Discovery

Refer back to THE Oak Island Podcast web page for EPISODE 7 for informational links to the varying accounts of the discovery of the $ Pit.

What Once was Buried May Soon Come to Light

The team will be increasing the shaft diameter from 5 feet to 8 feet. This will yield 2.5 times the material brought up to the surface.

The Uplands

SHAFT 5

Shaft 5 was an attempt made in 1850 by the Truro Company to find and potentially shut off the flood tunnel.

Coconut Fiber

Not native to the island, coconut fibers were indeed used by the original depositors.
