Need to get back in Swamp but will need to drain again, as everything is filled with water, pathway is under water again
Billy ends up back in swamp again to start excavating to get at stone paved walkway and other areas of interest, big boulders turning up again, Dr. Spooner assisting with review, Laird Niven ends up in Swamp to examine these big boulders, looks like they were added by humans
Rick notes be worked with stone in former days? never knew that
Smith's Cove/ War Room meeting with everyone- results from Craig on Smith's Cove dendrochronology results on large timber from the log structure in bump out area-results are: Red Spruce log, 1741 dated, two decades before slip way construction! This is a head scratcher, same time and construction as Money Pit? Time keeps moving back on the narrative notes before 1746 the French needed to hide something because of the fort loss to British, Chip Reid, naval historian presented that the structures on Somiths Cove connected to Fort Louisbourg, the L shaped structure
1745 British siege on French occupied fort and French needed to hide something on Oak Island, need a trip to the fort
Marty and Rick are happy with this and need to put it in context, go to the Fort
Fort Louisbourg
Doug Crowell and Rick Lagina making trip 300 miles to, 18th Century fort and connection to Oak Island, French started 1713, 1740 complete it, 1745 British take it, 2 miles of stone walls, 30 ft high 8 ft thick, and the vast tunnels under the fort, tunnels connected to the box drains on Oak Island?
Doug notes the Duke D'Anville is buried here! and their treasure was thought to have been buried near Mahone Bay
they meet Fort Historian Sara Macinnes to tour the fort, (shout out to all National Park service team members out there no matter if from US, Canada, Scotland, wherever, time and interpretation are appreciated!!)
Fort looks awesome, huge! and not all of it remains! on 1/5th remains! A drawbridge looking area with Main Gate, so many areas to look at
want to find a similar design of somethign from Fort to Oak Island items uncovered,
First trip to Duke's final resting place first visit at Fort, 1749 Louisbourg returned to French, English took Duke's body from former resting place in Halifax, and interred under chapel in the fort
1760 and 1768, British destroy most of fort, encasements they are looking at only remaining fort areas, original construction, they see a drain system in an area, could this be same type of drain construction on Oak Island? stone drain system looks similar
tunnel looked at next, behind the red door, fill it with power and bow it up if attacked, called a counter mine, still in same 18th century condition and nothing rebuilt, in the shape of a Cross, all original in marshy area, need to control water to build here like Oak Island
shown old building plans for fort and tunnel system beneath fort, connected to Nolan's Cross?
Lot 27- Gary, Jack, Peter- metal detecting, weeks ago found an ancient chisel, swages, so Gary is back here post hurricane for exposed clues being turned up
find a little piece of lead. mold for a musket ball? or a musket ball that needs to be cut from the mold? military presence
Off to the beach for searching, Gary gets down and dirty to uncover an encrusted glob of material, gold and silver attach to iron object with the corrosion build up, so you never know what is under that stuff, turns out to look like a 1700s axe head, possibly older? ship rigging axe?

Wooden structure un earthed at the bump out in Smith's Cove dates back to 1741 using dendrochronolgy. Also came back as Red Spruce which is native to the Nova Scotia region.
Red Spruce is one of the most important forest trees in the northeast. The wood is light, soft, and faintly tinged with red. This tree is used primarily for lumber and pulpwood. It is also used for construction lumber, plywood, boxes
